An Email to Daughters_2019.7.28

Helen and Lily,

After months of a torturingly slow learning process, I’ve finally gotten the hang of something about video editing. Last night, I suddenly wanted to do a video on the protest march in Yuen Long, Hong Kong, that was taking place yesterday, while I was taking the shower. Then I started to sit down and write the 10 sentences as the text for the video, and proceeded to do other things necessary. It was 1:30 am when a student texted me who just came back from the march and wanted to let me know of his feelings of it, and I told him I was in the middle of making the video about the march, and hopefully I could finish it in one go.

Eventually, at around 6 something am, I uploaded the video to YouTube. Watched it a couple of times and discovered some mistakes, corrected them, and when I finally hit the bed, it was 7 am. So now I could make a brand new video in about 9 hours.

My other friends in this video business, who are much more experienced, told me it would take them 4-5 hours to finish a video from beginning to end. So not bad, me being a slow tortoise, can make it in 9 hours. This is the link to my newest video:

Another one made a day earlier, on my new way of helping people to improve their English. If they just read aloud a few times each day the 10 sentences I’ve made in the video, with the sentences about a topic or a story of something, their English would definitely begin to improve in a few months’ time. The link of that video is here:

I’m doing the Cantonese version of the march video tonight. Will do the Mandarin version as well. Hey, your old dad can learn something still! I'm excited and just want to drop you girls a few lines.

Love you,

Dad
